Engaging Students with Informative/Explanatory 21st Century Writing Opportunities
The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) Appendix A defines informative/explanatory writing as writing that “conveys information accurately.” How can we teach students to write informative/ explanatory texts without students copying and pasting information directly from a source? In this session, strategies for teaching informative writing will be demonstrated; prompts and assignments asking students to write informative/explanatory texts for a variety of purposes and audiences will be shared.
